the coffee!
This coffee is tasting so good! We originally cupped it in a line-up looking for big sipper, but it stood out so fruited and floral, we had to double check it was a Peru! It’s light, full of summer berries, floral lilac, and rich chocolate, Kelly said it was like eating chocolate dipped raspberries, yum! It also has an amazing body to it, making it a super well rounded coffee.
Gilmer and COOPBAM
Gilmer is part of the COOPBAM co-op in Northern Peru, they do lots of amazing work with producers, supporting them to continue to grow better quality and higher yielding crops. COOPBAM pay farmers immediately after evaluation of the cherry received at mill, based on estimated yield. They will then issue a second payment later for different premiums(Organic cert, quality, etc). Red Fox pays the Co-op FOB(Freight on Board) price when they receive their product in warehouses
Finca Agua Blanca, Yambrasbamba
Gilmer’s Farm, Finca Agua Blanca, is part of a protected agroforestry system in Yambrasbamba. Recently approved for coffee production, the age of the coffee trees is fairly young at around 6 years old. Gilmer purchased 3 hectares of land in 2000 and has been developing 2.5 hectares for growing coffee, beans(the food one), corn, and raising cattle. The remainder of the land is filled with native trees such as guava, citrus, and cedar.
