Los Magnificos, a Monkaaba super-group.

Every time I chat with my bud Pat at Semilla about picking up more Monkaaba coffees, I usually end with, "got any Gesha?", and well, the answer this time was yes!

Enter the Los Magnificos Gesha, comprised of 7 fantastic smallholder producers around San Agustin. Initiated by Semilla/Monkaaba, this is another project to help purchase micro-lots of coffee that would otherwise be too small to export on their own. Pool together a few high-quality producers in the same region, with the same varietal and similar qualities, and ooo baby you got a stew going.

This lot is comprised of parchment delivered by the 7 producers named above, cupped by Esnaider, Didier & Jhon at the Monkaaba Bodega in San Agustin. They look for quality Gesha to blend together to send to the local mill as a single lot . This method allows producers who have small plots of high-quality varietals to sell to Monkaaba at a high-price, as opposed to having to sell to a larger buyer who would pay less & toss it into a larger Huila based regional blend, losing traceability.

We're stoked to have access to this beautiful lot of Gesha, and are excited to see the producers grow their individual plots so we can buy from them individually in the future! We're especially excited that Orlando Quinayas and his Daughter Diana are in this lot, as we're obviously huge fans of the Quinayas family.

This is a soft and delicate Gesha, roasted lightly. We find ripe melon, lemon cream, juicy grape, all wrapped around a lovely jasmine tea florality, tasting so classic gesha. Perfect for a pour-over or brew method of your choosing :).
