A new Decaf from our friends at Semilla, and our first ever Swiss Water Decaf!
The Sueños de Semilla project aims to buy all of the coffee from groups of rural Honduran producers, producers who have very limited specialty coffee market access due to their remote locations. Through making a decaf coffee Semilla is able to buy even more, moving excess poundage from specialty lots to the Swiss Water Decaffeination plant in Burnaby, BC
This lot is a blend of Typica and Parainema, from both the Montecillo mountain range outside Comayagua and El Paraiso near the Honduras-Nicaragua border. We got to visit the farm of contributor Clementino Ramirez when we visited Honduras last year. Up a steep dirt road, his farm is a good hike across the mountain side with beautiful vistas of the hills of the Comayagua Department. He farms coffee alongside his wife and son, his wife doing the bulk of the drying and hand sorting of their parchment. Clementino is a leader in the local coffee community, much respected and helps to bring more farmers into the Sueños de Semilla group.
This coffee is decaffeinated using the Swiss Water proprietary decaffeination method in Burnaby, British Columbia.
This coffee is perfect for brew or espresso, we hope it brings you nice cozy vibes~
